DUNDALK manager Stephen Kenny took charge of his 175th league game in charge of the club on Friday night with the 2-0 win over Bray Wanderers seeing him clock up his 120th win. That represents a win success rate of 68.6%. From those 175 matches he has now taken 290 points with 30 draws and just 25 defeats.

Double landmark for Hoban

PAT Hoban made his 70th league appearance for Dundalk on Friday night and marked it with his 40th league goal for the club. It was his sixth career goal against Bray Wanderers. UCD (8) and Cork City (7) are the only sides he has scored more against. IT might have been Friday the 13th on Friday but Dundalk’s lucky charm John Mountney (above) kept up his unique scoring record when he hit the net in the 94th minute at the Carlisle Grounds. The Mayo man has won every game in which he has scored in during his time at Dundalk. Friday night’s strike was his 17th in total for the club and 11th in the league. It also kept up his record of scoring a league goal in each of his six seasons at Oriel Park. Friday’s goal was his first ever goal against Bray Wanderers. The only time in his career that Mountney has scored and lost was in a 4-1 defeat for Mervue United away to Athlone Town on October 8th 2011.

Another clean sheet

AFTER conceding their first league goal of the season against Shamrock Rovers the previous week, Dundalk were back keeping clean sheets against Bray Wanderers. Friday’s shut out was their ninth in 10 matches. It took the side 16 games to keep the same number last season. IT was a 160th league start for Dundalk for Dane Massey against his former club on Friday night. Chris Shields also made the 285th start of his career while Stephen O’Donnell came off the bench for the 50th time in his career in the league on Friday also. AHEAD of what will be his 50th Dundalk appearance against Limerick on Tuesday night, Jamie McGrath has targeted more goals to add to his recent good form.

The 21-year-old has grown from a boy into a man in the last 12 months. This time last year he was studying to complete his degree but over the winter months his concentration went on building himself up.

McGrath is now noticeably bigger as a result of his work in the gym and told The Argus after his side’s victory over Bray Wanderers on Friday night that he is feeling the benefits of the hard slog. The one disappointment for him is that he has failed to add to his seven goals from last season but he is confident that will come sooner rather than later.

“I didn’t even know that,” he said when the landmark was put to him. “Fifty games already is a great personal achievement.”

McGrath has been playing in an unfamiliar wide right role in recent weeks and while he admits it is not a position that comes natural to him, he feels
