Seamus was big sports supporter
SEAMUS Tumilty, Saint Oliver’s Park, Carlingford passed away peacefully on January 3rd, 2018 in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital.
Aged 78 he was originally from C arrickmacross and a son of the late Kate and Robert Tumilty. After leaving the Bush Tech, he joined the Army in Dublin where he met his wife Esther and they went on to have family of six children.
Seamus was a talented carpenter and while serving his apprenticeship was voted third in Ireland. A retained fire fighter in Carlingford, he had a great passion for gardening.
He was a big fan of Carlingford Celtic, where he went on to manage the team for a short period of time. A great supporter of Gaelic football, he followed Cooley Kickhams for many years.
He also enjoyed horse racing and the famous Cheltenham was his favourite meeting and he enjoyed a flutter.
His health had deteriorated over the last twelve months and even then still managed a smile. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his brothers Noel and Enda, sisters Anna and Loretto.
Seamus is survived by his wife Esther, daughters Cynthia (Carlingford), sons Seamus (Newry) and Mark (England) and Gavin (Carrick), sons in law Jimmy, Brendan and Francis, daughter in law Patrice, sisters Maura (Carlingford), Bernie (Newcastle), brother Aidan (Newry), brother in law Seamus and sister in law, Sheila, nephews, nieces, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Readings were given by son in law Jimmy McShane and granddaughter Emma Tumilty. Prayers of faithful by grandson Jason Tumilty, great granddaughter Chloe McShane and grandson Oisin O’Neill.
Among the gifts smybolising Seamus’ life brought up to the altar a miniture boat demonstrating his carpentery skills brought up by his granddaughter Rebecca, a fireman’s helmet celebrating his 25 years in the fire service brought up by his grandson Garret, a garden picture of him being awarded second place in the Tidy Towns competition and a Cooley jersey brought up by his grandson Liam. Son Mark and son in law Jimmy also participated in the offertory procession.

Burial took place afterwards in St Michael’s Cemetery. by
