CASA make Springtime appeal for donations

-

CASA, the Caring & Sharing Association, are in urgent need of stocks for their charity shops.

CASA is a registered Irish charity. For thirty seven years, they have worked to develop friendships and provide respite and social outlets for people with disabilities. CASA supports all with disabilities – physical, sensory and intellectual – all ages and from all backgrounds.

There are 22 branches of CASA located all over Ireland. These groups provide monthly social activities. They organise big group events with music and dancing, and smaller activities which include bowling, cinema trips and shopping.

The aim of these groups is to reach out and provide opportunities for socialising, friendships, and support for those with disabilities. CASA offers year round respite breaks in their Breakhouse in Malahide. Respite is provided for family carers, and quality breaks are provided for the person with a disability. This is achieved in a warm, supportive and family like atmosphere where mem- bers and volunteers partake in day-to-day activities and social outings together.

CASA organises a Pilgrimage to Lourdes each year. Each trip caters for 130 people. CASA liaises with hospitals and hospices to identify people with life limiting conditions who may wish to travel to Lourdes. The sick and those with disabilities are the VIP’s on this pilgrimage. They are accompanied by a team of volunteers who travel at their own expense on the pilgrimage. Their sole purpose is to ensure that each person gets optimum benefit from their days in Lourdes as they deliver to them a high level of personal care 24/7.

To help fund these fantastic services, CASA have a number of shops located throughout Ireland. The income generated through the sales in these shops is a vital cog in the wheel of care which is CASA. They are extremely grateful to Hanlon Transport, Greenore for once more coming to their aid.

Hanlon Transport’s truck and trailer will be parked at Cooley Parochial Hall on Saturday morning, April 28, from 9 am to 1 pm. From there, all donations will be brought directly to CASA’s main charity shop in Capel Street Dublin. On arrival, each bag will be opened, it’s contents sorted, steam cleaned, priced and very swiftly distributed to the various CASA charity shops.

Donations of second hand clothing, footwear, curtains, sheets, pillowcases, towels, and cushions are warmly welcomed. CASA would also be delighted to receive second hand handbags, belts, costume jewellery etc. They are unable to accept furniture, electrical goods, children’s car seats, duvets, pillows, and toys.

CASA wish to express their deepest thanks to all who have donated items in the past. The fantastic ongoing support which they receive now plays a vital role in the provision of their services.
