Pipers’ Club perform in Heritage Centre

-

For the past three years, Carlingford Heritage Centre, with the support of Create Louth and under the artistic direction of Zoe Conway and John McIntyre, has promoted the ‘Sundays in Spring’ series of afternoon concerts. These have brought an eclectic range of musical and spoken-word acts to Carlingford and the wider Cooley and border area and have proven very popular with audiences.

This year, as part of our celebration of the resurgence of Irish traditional music, we have included in our programme one of the foremost centres of musical excellence and tuition in Ireland today.

The Armagh Pipers’ Club, recent winners of the Good Tradition Award at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, will perform at Carlingford Heritage Centre on Sunday April 22. The Pipers’ Club have become synonymous with the renaissance of Irish music and bring some of Ireland’s best and most talented young musicians together with more established artists.

The afternoon concert promises to

be an exceptional event: probably more playing musicians – young and not so - than we have ever accommodated in the Heritage Centre. We can expect a big sound!

To mark the occasion and to bring in as many young music lovers as possible from the Carlingford, Cooley and Omeath area to the hour-long concert, Carlingford Heritage Centre will be offering €5 entry fee to pupils from all the primary and secondary schools in the area.

Tickets €12 (general concession €10, special pupils’ concession €5 as above). Tel. 042 9373454.
