Council fundraising quiz for Cara Cancer Care

-

ON Friday night I headed for the Lisdoo where a rather special fundraising Table Quiz was being run by the Louth County Council Social Club as a fundraiser for Cara Cancer Care and a huge crowd had turned out for the event being run by quizmaster Brian Martin from Ard Easmuinn who told me the brains were definitely going to get a work out, but there’d be the usual mixed bag of cranium scratchers thrown for good measure.

I then headed for a table where I met up with Shane Wilson from Silverbridge and Steve Burke from Dublin Road who told me they awaiting the talents of Anne Carroll and Donna White both from Cooley who were going to provide all the answers.

Not too far away I then got a word with Graham and Cathy Cousins from Castle Road who told me it was a Welsh / Irish amalgamation that didn’t need anyone else on their team because they were brimming with all the right answers!

At an adjacent table I met up with Philip and Brenda O’Brien from Carrick Road who were with Kathleen and Paddy Birch from Faughart who were enjoying the pre-quiz meal and told me they were quietly confident of a major result.

Heading for one of the shark teams I then had the pleasure of talking to Paddy and Mary Donnelly from Belfry Gardens who were with Catherine Duff from Blackrock who were sorry that Pat Meade couldn’t join forces with them on the night but were going to plough on regardless and were definitely going to be in the prizes.

Also enjoying the meal were Kathleen and John Muckian from Knockbridge who were with Patricia Rogers from Kingswood (who was still looking forward to her retirement cruise) and Pauline Watters from Blackrock who were very confident and said they definitely had all the answers.

Also at their table were Martin McMullan from Newry, Marie O’Callaghan from Blackrock and Aisling Morgan from Park Villas who told me they were definitely in it to win it.

Well they were in the right position in the function room because they were sitting beside last year’s winners Mary Capplis from Blackrock, Fiachra Carroll from The Loakers who were with Catherine Wallace and Brian Lynch who were looking forward to defending their title against all-comers.

Making my way over to another table I then got taking to Annmarie McKeown from Kilkerley, Olivia Corrigan from Dowdallshill and Noel McCarville from Carrickmacross who told me they were really enjoying the curry and then they were going to go on to win afterwards!

I then headed for the Cooley Contingent table where I caught up with Pauline Malone, Susan Murphy, Paul and Noeleen Quigley whose combined intellect meant they were sure to win.

Next I got talking to some of the committee who were aiding Brian on his big night and they included Tracy Ross from Broughton Street, Karen Owens from Hill View and Gail Morgan from Castleblaney who wanted to make sure the night was a huge success.

Finally, before I departed I then got talking to John Boyle from Yorke Street who was just after arriving with Catherine and Ciara Lynch both from Kilkerley who were looking forward to a great night and wanted to wish Brian and the rest of the committee all the best on his big fundraiser.
