Rosemount is named Ireland’s best B&B

-

FOR the numerous guests who stay at Rosemount B&B on the Dublin Road, it’s no surprise that the Dundalk establishment has been named as Ireland’s best B&B in the Irish Hospitality Awards 2018, which took place in the Crowne Plaza, Dublin last Tuesday,

Maisie and John Meehan, who have been welcoming guests into their home since 1970, are delighted with the award.

‘We had already won the prize for the best B&B in the border region, so I couldn’t believe it when we were called up on stage as the overall winner,’ says Maisie.

Maisie runs the family business with the help of her husband John for the past ten years, since he retired as a bus driver with 37 years service.

‘We get guests from all over the world, and we are now welcoming the children of people who would have stayed with us in the past,’ says Maisie. ‘We get business people, students, holiday makers as well as a lot of people who would be visiting relatives around Dundalk.’

As soon as visitors walk in the gate, they know they are staying somewhere special, as the stunning garden has won numerous awards, and Maisie, who is also the proud holder of a Michelin star, offers guests a wonderful breakfast, including a traditional ‘full Irish’ as well as vegetarian options.

Riva Brasserie, Earl Street, won the Casual Dining Award for the borders region.
