First Waterford defeat in almost 10 years

-

DUNDALK’S defeat to Waterford FC on Friday night was the first time Dundalk FC have lost a game at the RSC in almost 10 years. Back on June 20th 2008 Luke Fitzpatrick’s goal earned the home side a 1-0 win over John Gill’s Dundalk. John Flanagan was sent off for the visitors on that day. IT was a big week for Patrick Hoban. He made his 75th league appearance for Dundalk in their 2-1 loss in Waterford on Friday. He also bagged a brace in the 5-0 win over St Patrick’s Athletic with his first being his 50th goal for the club and his 30th at Oriel Park. It was also his 60th league goal in the SSE Airtricity League and his first ever goal against St Patrick’s Athletic. Hoban’s double on the night took his tally for the season to nine but his goals in that game were his first in the second half of a match all season. RONAN Murray scored twice this week against St Patrick’s Athletic and Waterford FC to register his first league goals for Dundalk. The Mayo man made his 50th appearance in Irish football against Waterford on Friday night with his stoppage time free kick resulting in his 15th league goal in the SSE Airtricity League and his fifth goal in all competitions for Dundalk. DANIEL Cleary’s late booking for reacting to a Thomas Byrne challenge against St Patrick’s Athletic on Monday night was his fifth yellow card of the season. This will see the centre half serve a suspension. He will miss the club’s trip to face Derry City at the revamped Brandywell on Monday.
