REDEEMER Celtic take their quest for promotion to their last game - which they need to win at home against Bailieboro - to stand a chance of a play-off for promotion to Division 1 of the NEFL.

Regardless of what happens, it has been a highly satisfactory debut season in the league, the aim having been to consolidate their place in the third tier.

Bailieboro also are still in contention to secure a play-off for promotion, and they were the one side that recorded an emphatic win over Redeemer - on a 4-1 scoreline - when the sides met in Bailieboro earlier in the season.

So the Dundalk team are under no illusion as to the size of the task awaiting them when the sides play at Gorman Park next Sunday afternoon.

The journey south on Sunday didn’t exactly turn out to be an exacting challenge against lowly Rathkenny, especially after Sean Bailey put Redeemer ahead after 10 minutes.

Dean McConnell made it 2-0 with a smashing free kick, struck over the home defensive wall from outside the penalty box and into the top corner of the home net midway through the half.

Bailey added his second goal of the game to wrap up all three points 20 minutes from time when he used his pace to cut through the middle of the Rathkenny defence and score.
