MARQUEE IN CROWE’S THE VENUE FOR GREAT NIGHT

-

ON Saturday night I headed for the Marquee in Toales in Crowe Street where a rather special bon voyage going party for the lovely Lauren Smith from Point Road who is heading off to become a pre-chef in Long Island in the very near future and a big crowd had turned out specially to wish her all the best on her travels.

I was only in the door when I caught up with Lauren who told me she was there with parents Lorraine and Gerry along with sisters Emma and Isobel.

She told me she had finished her time in the DkIT studying Culinary Arts and is heading for New York. Lauren asked me not to forget to give a special mention to her mates Nicole Cahill from Toberona and Ben Murphy from Railway Terrace who were there with her on the night.

Also in her company was her aunty Gillian Smith from Point Road who was with Peter Rooney also from Point Road and they wanted to wish Lauren a bon voyage.

Meanwhile up at the bar I then met up with Lauren’s dad Gerry who was there with Petey Rooney from Crossmaglen and Andrew Mackin from the Quay who told me not to forget to give a special mention for Kevin S.C. Walsh from the Quay who was on his way but hadn’t made it to the party yet.

Heading for another table I then got a word with family friends Lesley Carolan from Muirhevnamor and Alison McGuinness from Avondale Park who were up for a mad one along with aunties Noreen McMahon from Kingswood and Louise English from Fr. Murray Park who eventually admitted they were going to give Lauren a mad send off. They wanted a special mention for Louise’s husband David English who couldn’t make it to the party, he was at home babysitting their brand-new baby girl Ellie!

Also in their company were Lauren’s cousin Laura Breen from Manydown Close and Scott McKeever from O’Hanlon Park who told me he was going to be surrounded by ladies all night long and would probably have to ‘ take one for the team!’

After this I headed over for a word with Gillian Killeen who told me she was with Andrew Mackin whom I’d met earlier and she was having a laugh with Lauren’s granny Majella Breen from Point Road who wanted to wish her all the best on her adventure in the USA.

Making my way over to another table I then caught up with Tracy Markey from Cooley Park, Aine Rodan from Marian Park, Donna Mulholland from The Stags Head, Caroline Meegan from Bachelors Walk and Maggie Carolan from Riverside Drive who are all family friends and were then joined by my old friend Tom Byrne from Wynnes Terrace and Lillian Mulligan from Castleross who were up for making the best of the night and all wanted to wish Lauren all the best on her forthcoming adventure.
