Six youths complete Gaisce bronze medal

DUNDALK FC PLAYER PRESENTS DESERVED AWARDS

DUNDALK Youth Centre hosted an Awards evening on May 10th to celebrate the fantastic achievemen­t by six young people who have successful­ly completed their Gaisce Bronze award.

The Awards were Presented by Karolis Chevdukas and Liam Burns from Dundalk FC who joined for the celebratio­n.

On the night Mary Yore from Gaisce spoke about the journey the young people had been on over 12 months to complete all four sections of the Gaisce programme. Gaisce or Presidents Award is a nationally recognised award for young people who undertake a Personal, Physical, Community and Team Challenge over a number of months. The awards have three tiers Gold Silver and Bronze and are endorsed by President Higgins.

Receiving their awards on the night were Josh Challoner, Sonia McKeown, Jordan McK- enna, Maeve McCourt, Katie Conway and Chloe Gernon. Family and friends were in attendance to see the young people receive their awards along with Cllr. Maeve Yore and Joanne Murphy from Louth Children and Young Peoples Services Committee.

Gaisce is supported in Dundalk Youth Centre by youth worker Stacey McVeigh who was very proud of the young people for giving their com- mitment and energy to developing themselves through the programme.
