SIRENA MARKS HER 40TH WITH FANCY DRESS FUN
One birthday party I certainly wasn’t going to miss was the fancy dress party to celebrate Sirena Grass from Lios Dubh’s 40th which took place in the Lisdoo on Saturday night.
Sirena who works in Scoil Beag creche in Kilcurry and has a life long association with the Louth branch of SPCA was there as Minnie Mouse was there with kids Kieran and Amelia-Rose, mum Fiona Squibb who was Nemo and huge collection of family and friends.
I wasn’t too long there when I met up with Elaine and Joe Duffy from Holly Horse Haven in Omeath who were there as Ursula the Witch and Merlin and were having a chat with Tommy Conway from Point Road who had come as an undercover cop.
Seated beside them I then got a word with Tinkerbell Sarah Cooke from Newry and Nadelle and Shailen Cooke also from Newry who were there as Moana and Junior Minion and the ladies told me it was going to be a fantastic party and no mistake.
Also in their company was Mickey Mouse Chris Casey from Muirhevnamor who was with Louise Caulfield Elastigirl from the Incredibles from Dromiskin, Max Arcese and Shannon Farrelly who had come as Popeye (complete with his can of spinach that fitted his pint very nicely) and Olive Oyl and wanted to wish Sirena all the best on her big night.
Next I got a swift word with Sirena’s schoolmate Robert Childerhouse who was over from North Yorkshire specially for the party and assured me he was Grumpy from the 7 Dwarves. He was sitting with his favourite Pirate Sonia Molyneaux from Suffolk and Queen of Hearts Maria Green also from Suffolk who were up for making a mad night of it.
Heading fr an adjacent table I caught up with Pocahontas Anne Maitland from Balllywhiskin who was seated with the Mad Hatter Sharon Dunne from The Meadows, Minion Mark McLoughlin from Lios Dubh and his wife Pirate Jennifer who agreed they’d look well up the town later on in the night!
I then got talking to family friends Paul Madden from Newry and Noel Murphy from Mullaghbawn who wanted to wish Sirena all the best on her big night.
I then headed for a table where I met up with Fiona’s sisters and they included Cruella Deville Karen Martin from Bury St. Edmonds, Yvonne Murphy from Camelough and Jacqueline Madden from Newry who reminded me of the great times we used to have in Carlingford when we were kids!
I then got a quick word with Cruella’s dalmatians and they included Karen Browne originally from Cavan but living in Bury St. Edmunds who was with Lochlann Browne and his brother Damien and girlfriend Laura Johnston both from Suffolk who were on to make sure that Sirena had a fantastic night.
Finally, before I departed I caught up with Ronan ‘Maca’ and Ami McEvoy from Mounthamilton who were there with Theresa Traynor from Lios Dubh who assured me they were going to make it a real night to remember for the birthday girl.
