Man found with €2,500 of cocaine

GARDAI CONTINUE WITH OPERATIONS TACKLING ILLEGAL DRUGS

A 19-year-old man detained at Dundalk Garda Station was found in possession of €2,500 worth of cocaine, and a further estimated €500 worth of cannabis herb, it emerged this week.

A file is being prepared for the Director of Public Proseuctio­ns (DPP) following the seizure.

In a separate incident a 20-year-old male was questioned by gardai following suspicious activity at Road 2, Muirhevnam­or. An estimated €560 of illegal tablets were seized as part of the investigat­ion.

And a 27-year-old man attempted to flee along St. Nicholas Avenue when he was approached by gardai. He was eventually detained and was found to be in possession of a quantity of diazepam tablets and cannabis herb.

Meanwhile, gardai are investigat­ing a house in Claddagh Park last week. A van was reported alight in the driveway of a house at 11.40pm on Thursday evening last.

A house along the Point Road was searched during an investigat­ion into the possession of stolen of property. Footwear and clothing, which were believed to have been stolen, were recovered from the house.

A number of items were stolen from a car parked outside a house in Avondale last weekend. The theft occurred between midnight and 6a.m, and among the items stolen were Dolce and Gabana sunglasses.

Gardai are investigat­ing an assault which occurred along Park Street at around 10.20pm on Sunday night. The victim sustained injuries to his nose and eye. A 21-year-old male was questioned by gardai in relation to the incident.

Informatio­n is being sought in relation to the theft of cash from a GP premises in town on June 22nd between 4.30pm and 4.45pm. A young male was seen leaving the premises. He was wearing grey tracksuit bottoms and a white t-shirt with black writing on it.

In a separate incident at another town centre business, two males were reported to have behind the front desk of a shop and stole cash from purses belonging to staff, which had been left in a back office.
