LOUTH star Catherine McGlew is hoping that the undoubted talent of Louth’s players combined with an excellent spirit within the camp will be the key to Leinster Championsh­ip glory on Sunday.

The St Fechins attacker is in her third year with the Wee County senior panel and believes the bond between the players has never been as strong and that could help them overcome a strong Carlow outfit in the decider.

‘We have developed into a very tight-knit group since the start of the season and everyone is really close. There are a lot of players from different clubs and they all seem to get on well together so it is working out really well,’ she explained.

‘Despite losing a lot of players from last season’s squad, I think the management team has been brilliant from day one and Micheal McKeown brought a real profession­al approach to all aspects of the game. We felt from very early on that we could win something this season and we proved a point by getting to the Division 4 Final.’

Although that game ended in disappoint­ment for Louth, Catherine believes they can take positives from the defeat as they prepare for Sunday’s showdown.

‘It was a difficult day for us but we have to acknowledg­e that Wicklow are a very good side. They are currently playing in the Intermedia­te Championsh­ip and have some excellent players. However, having said that I don’t think we were too far off them and things just didn’t go our
