GARDEN PARTY FUN

P28

-

THE first garden party for patients at the Louth County Hospital was such a huge success that it’s hoped to make it an annual event.

The party took place in glorious sunshine with family, relatives and friends joining the patients and staff for an afternoon of music and food.

The hospital currently has around 70 patients in the step down and medical wards as well as the stroke rehabilitation unit.

The event was organised by staff, with many coming in on their day off to make it such a success,

and they were delighted with the response.

The organisers are extremely grateful to all the local businesses who donated food and refreshments as well as floral arrangements and sun hats, including the hospital canteen, The Malt House, Tesco, Penneys, O’Callaghan Insurances, Haggardstown Garden Centre, Dundalk Garden Centre, Strandfield and Finnegan’s Garden Centre, and also Kevin McKenna and his sister who donated a handcrafted potting bench.

Entertainment was provided by Micky Kelly and guests and Tommy Disco, while Paddy Mac from Dundalk FM was also in attendance. Paddy interviewed Director of Nursing Yvonne Bourke and Hospital Manager Lou O’Hare, as well as many of the patients and guests, for a programme broadcast last Thursday afternoon.
