- By OLIVIA RYAN

A man in his 50s remained in critical condition in hospital yesterday (Monday) after he jumped from an upstairs bedroom window to escape a blaze at his home.

The fire broke out at a house in Castle Park in the early hours of Wednesday last, July 4th.

Dundalk Gardai are appealing for witnesses after two men were reportedly seen leaving the scene in a dark coloured saloon type car.

The blaze began at around 2a.m, when an item was reported to have been thrown at the downstairs of the house, and quickly spread throughout the property.

A man who was in the house at the time was said to have jumped from the window of an upstairs bedroom window at the rear.

The alarm was raised and he was removed by ambulance to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, where he was treated for severe injuries and for smoke inhalation.

His condition remained critical at the time of going to press. The Argus understands
