A group of 18 teenagers will travelled from the Middle East for a Peace Conference being held in Carlingford Heritage Centre recently

The group comprised of six Muslims, six Jews and six Christians from Jerusalem, who came to Ireland with the KIDS4PEACE project to learn about the Irish Peace Process.

Their visit to Carlingford included meeting victims of The Troubles from both sides of the religious divide and reconciliation workshops.

The day was completed with a trip to Skypark Adventure Park where they had fun competing together on the Team Development High Ropes course and ziplines.

Kids4Peace is an interfaith youth organisation based in the US that seeks to end conflict and inspire hope in Jerusalem and other divided societies.

Carlingford is well known for holding peace building events and Carlingford Adventure Centre has hosted many cross-community sporting and team building events during the past 25 years.

Managing Director Thomas McArdle stated: ‘We are honoured to have Kids4Peace with us for team building activities. They are an inspiring bunch of young adults spreading a very important message and we are sure we can learn as much from them as they can from us! Since our inception we have held cross community events and provided adventures for people from a wide variety of faiths and backgrounds.’

During their time in Ireland, the teens also visited the Reconciliation Centre in Dublin and met Simon Coveney and Irish President Michael D. Higgins.
