The Community Alert Group is on a summer break, but still help is available to those who would like to obtain the comfort and support of a personal monitor.

The Group is affiliated to An Pobal who issue and install the monitors which come free for the first year to those who are over 65.

The Community officers and committee will gladly guide those interested in obtaining one of the monitors through the application process, with a spokesperson stressing the value of the devices in gaining assistance at the press of a button.

The monitor needs to be worn on the wrist or round the holder’s neck to straight away summon help in the case of sickness, injury or a fall.

For information or help in regard to the scheme contact Amy ( 086 2268606) or Eimear (0863525888).

The Community Alert also urge all in the area to familiarise themselves with the Text Alert number displayed on signposts, and not be reticent to telephone the Gardai if they see anything suspicious or feel disturbed or afraid over some happening.
