The glorious weather if anything boosted the usual very large turnout for the annual patron and blessing of the graves in the parish cemetery of Saint Fursey.

As ever the graveyard was immaculately presented with the respect and regard in which those interred there are held by their families clearly demonstrated. .

Parish clergy Father Padraig Keenan and Father Brian White were joined by Deacon Dermot Clarke and a number of visiting clergymen with local connections in leading the service and prayer.

These included Father John O’Leary, Father Padraig Murphy, Father Billy Cleary and Deacon Paul Casey. The local church choir also enhanced the service with their music and singing, with Pat Leddy taking charge of the sound.

Arrangements were once again also in place to relieve traffic congestion, with a one way system in operation along the Chapel Road over a number of hours to facilitate those attending.

Car parking was also provided in the field along the Chapel Pass.
