‘Wizard of Oz’ goes to Anaverna

WHAT if Dorothy was from Dundalk not Kansas?

An Táin Arts Centre’s theatre company in residence, Quintesses­e, have taken the classic American tale of the Wizard of Oz and transplant­ed it to 21st century Co Louth.

Dorothy is a moody, social-media addled teen, who suddenly finds herself trans- ported to a magical land, where she befriends a Lion, a Scarecrow and a Tin-Man.

Audiences can follow their journey when ‘ The Deadly Wizard of Oz’ is staged in the beautiful grounds of Anaverna House, Ravensdale.

An Táin Arts Centre Director, Paul Hayes describes the company’s annual trip out to Anaverna as ‘ one of the hightlight­s of year’.

‘ The Deadly Wizard Of Oz’ runs from from Wednesday July 18th to Sunday July 22nd.
