Michael Harding to launch Wee County Big Book Club

-

THE acclaimed Irish author Michael Harding is set to launch the Wee County Big Book Club 2018 in Dundalk library next Friday.

Similar to the popular ‘ One Book, One City’ project run in cities around the world, this initiative aims at getting people to read the same book during the summer and take part in a number of events.

The ‘Wee Book’ for 2018 is ‘On Tuesdays I’m a Buddhist’ by Michael Harding, published by Hachette Ireland, and Louth’s library service will be ordering it lots of copies so there’s no excuse for not joining in.

The Leitrim based writer, who has won several awards for his books and plays, is a regular columnist with The Irish Time and has also won awards for his acting. ‘On Tuesdays I’m a Buddhist’ sees him ruminating on the difference between psychotherapy and religion, and relates the story of his pilgrimage to Skellig Michael, in his ongoing search for meaning.’

County Librarian Yvonne O’Brien explains that it’s hoped to get as many people as possible involved including members of book clubs, out patients of Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, and the general public reading ‘On Tuesdays I’m a Buddhist’.

Creative Writing workshops are planned throughout the county and author readings, culminating with Harding reading from and talking about his memoir at An Táin Arts Centre, Dundalk on September 29th.
