Touchline incident mars St Kevin’s win

-

ST Kevin’s booked a promotion showdown with Glen Emmets this Friday night with a hard-fought win over Na Piarsaigh at the Rock Road.

The victory was soured somewhat by a touchline incident that led to a red card for Naps’ wing back Stephen McGuinness, after he retaliated to teammate Ciaran Murphy being struck by a St Kevin’s supporter.

McGuinness was red-carded by referee Thomas Brennan and Murphy was forced to retire injured five minutes later, but it remains to be seen if the CCC take any action against the spectator involved in the altercation.

Either way it won’t make much difference to Na Piarsaigh as their shot at promotion to Division 2 faded away.

Reduced to 14 men they were always likely to struggle thereafter and with James Clarke and Cian Callan netting majors the visitors controlled proceedings.

A goal by substitute Stephen Arrowsmith gave Na Piarsaigh hope, but it wasn’t to be and it’s St Kevin’s who advanced to the promotion / relegation decider against Glen Emmets this Friday night.
