Thirty years of hairdressing brilliance

-

THIS month marks the 30th anniversary of the opening of the award winning Edge hairdressing salon and proprietor Gerry Hoey plans a weekend of celebration this Friday and Saturday to show his deep and genuine appreciation to his customers, many of whom have remained loyal to him all down the years.

It is for that very reason that Edge is one of the longest unisex salons in business in the Dundalk area. It is why Gerry and his team of highly qualified stylists continually strive to provide the most innovative hairdressing, ensuring they are up to date with the latest styles, trends, treatments and services.

Pursuing the highest standards in cutting, styling and treatments for the salon entails staff upgrading their skills constantly, attending training seminars and working under the leading lights in the profession, such as Vidal Sassoon, Patrick Cameron and Shay Dempsey, as well as using the best quality products.

Greatly helped by former colleagues who opted to join him in the new venture, Gerry built up a good trade and the salon has a fine reputation. A whole new team evolved, and former customers moved with him to Edge and their loyalty enabled the new business to grow from strength to strength. The stylists who presently comprise the team Aine Marmion, Rachel O’Reilly (Master Colourist), Lina Morkune, Lauren Meehan (Master Colourist), Sonia McMahon, Lorraine Boyle, Fionnuala McEvoy, Catherine McGrath, Pauline McArdle, Maria Cotter, Rachel Tasker, Shannon Savage and Coilfhinn Matthews (Reception), have all played a leading part in the success of the business. Continuity of service has been a key factor in the salon’s success, ensuring all clients receive the same care and attention.

As the economic climate improved, Gerry also moved with the more favourable times and upgraded the business into an elite salon, achieving higher and higher standards in all facets of the trade, such as cutting, styling and colouring. It is Wella accredited salon, with staff attending the Wella Academy and certified courses run by it.

They also trained under Vidal Sassoon and other top names in the industry. They constantly keep abreast with developments and trends in the profession, and the salon and staff has won national and international recognition through their participation in different competitions.

It is a leading stockist of Wella System Professional Hair Care Treatment, TIGI and Revlon products, and also stocks GHD straighteners.

The salon opens Monday to Saturday from 9am to 6pm, with extended hours on Thursday and Friday, closing at 8pm.
