Tony Golden Cycle

The LH286 Tony Golden Memorial Cycle which took place from Blackrock on Saturday September 22 was a huge success. This was the third event organised by colleagues of Garda Golden who had lived in Blackrock with his family.

This year’s event attracted almost 290 cyclists and the organisers are grateful to all those who took part in the cycle, and who supported it in any way.

The organising committee wish to express a special word of thanks to Neil Kelly of The Trinity Quarter/Cross Bar Drogheda for the Gilets and Myles McCorry of Galibier who helped design and manufactur­e the Gilet and also provided numerous spot prizes; Paul and Harry of Clermont Arms, Black- rock who kindly sponsored tops and spot prizes and also provided a venue for our Committee meetings; Richard Tiernan of SuperValu, Fairways who kindly sponsored the Goodie Bags; Alan Meehan of Meehan’s Garage Dundalk who sponsored the road signs; Synge & Byrne, Total Produce and Martin Molloy for the food on the day; Hanlon Transport, Byrne & Maguire and Allfast Systems Ltd who also supported the event; Ray and Karl of The Bikestatio­n for their brilliant help with the organising and running of the day.

Thanks also to everyone who support the event, especially the cyclists, the marshals, the photograph­ers, the volunteers who helped at the food stops, those that cheered the cyclists on, Blackrock Community Centre and Cooley Hall for providing venues and Jimmy Norman from Aoibheann’s Pink Tie who turned up and helped out on the day.
