DkIT students plant tree in memory of Cameron Reilly

-

DkIT students, staff and friends of the late Cameron Reilly planted a tree in memory of the murdered teenager on the campus last week.

Cameron (18) was a first year student at DkIT, and was remembered fondly by his classmates and teaching staff from the Department of Events, Hospitality and Culinary Arts at the special ceremony last week.

Balloons were also released into the air as part of the memorial event.

The popular teen died tragically on May 26th this year after a violent attack in Dunleer.

Speaking after the ceremony, a spokesperson for the department said: ‘ Today was a sad day for our department as we remembered our student Cameron Reilly who died tragically on Sat 26th May 2018. Students, staff and his family gathered today for a memorial ceremony to remember Cameron. This was followed by the planting of a tree in his memory and the release of balloons.’

‘While we all wish we were gathering under different circumstances, it was a fitting event to remember a lovely young man who left us too soon. Cameron you still live in our hearts and minds.’

Aaron Connolly (18) Willistown, Drumcar, was charged with the murder of Cameron Reilly in July
