Two theatre treats at An Tain

THEATRE fans will be spoiled for choice when they have the chance to see two intriguing plays in the intimate setting of An Táin Arts Centre’s Studio Theatre this week.

First up on Friday night is Hero, written by Ken Rogan and directed by Amilia Stewart, Fair City star Daithí Mac Suibhne plays Smithy whose life gets immensely more complicate­d after a chance encounter with Marissa. In this one-hour oneact play, Smithy shares his views on the twin passions in his life - women and football.

The comedy is Rogan’s debut play and it was originally staged in Dublin following a crowd funding appeal. It has since played to theatres around the country, delighting audiences and garnering favourable reviews.

The award winning Certain Dark Things theatre company bring their third production ‘ The Story of William, Who Died’, to Dundalk on Saturday night as part of their autumn tour of Ireland and the UK.

This original play by Stephen McCabe tells the story of a young Irish artist who struggles to survive in London in 1890. He seeks escape from illness in his work, but is consumed by darkness.

Certain Dark Things employ physical theatre, poetic language and masks to bring William’s tragic story to life.
