YOUNG AT HEART

This group meet in the Community Centre from 6.00pm this Thursday.

Dancing Dancing in the Community Centre continues this Sunday night October 28, with music by Country Pride. Brian McDermott plays on November 4, J and S Sound on November 11, Adrian Ryan on November 18 and White Lightening on November 25. Dancing from 9.00pm to midnight.

BOWLS

Bowls continue in the Community Centre from 7.45pm each Wednesday night. New members welcome.

BADMINTON

Badminton for adults in the Community Centre on Monday nights from 8pm to 10pm. All over 18 welcome.

TUSLA

Tusla Child and Family Agency is urgently recruiting foster carers for children in Louth.

RECENT DEATHS

Condolence­s are extended to Tom Grant and family, Barronstow­n on the death of his daughter Jennifer Grant, Belmayne, Dublin, whose funeral took place on Wednesday last to Shelagh Church.

EMMETS GFC

The U14 ladies ended the season in style as they came out on top in the U14 Division 1 league Final against Cooley in Stabannon in the curtain raiser to the recent ladies senior championsh­ip final. Both teams played out a very sporting game in windy conditions. Squad: Grainne Cumiskey. Katie Cotter, Emily McElroy, Katie Clarke, Aoife Clarke, Chloe Conlon, Zara Dempsey, Sophia Stitt, Ella McEnteggar­t, Bronagh Cowan, Aisling Quigley, Caitlin Leneghan, Sarah Lawrence, Ciara Lennon, Emily Hoey, Niamh Cawley, Clodagh Sharkey, Erin Finnegan, Brigh McEnteggar­t, Kayleigh Grey Oakes, Aoife McGee, Ciara Quigley, Dearbhala Quinn. Well done girls. The girls minor team finished level 2-5 each away to St Pats in the championsh­ip play away to Naomh Martin this Sunday at 11.00am.

Nomination­s and Motions meeting for 2019 , takes place on Thursday, November 8, at 8.00 p.m. and the Annual General Meeting will be held on Friday, November 23, both in the Community Centre.

FOROIGE

The Foroige Club continues each Friday evening at 8.00pm in the Community Centre as does Lady Birds and Girl Guides at 6.00pm and Brownies at 7.00pm.

PASTORAL COUNCIL

The first meeting of the new pastoral council for Kilkerley Knockbridg­e Parishes takes place on Tuesday next October 30 at 9.00pm in Knockbridg­e Parochial House. The Council will be commission­ed in St Marys Church, Knockbridg­e at 7.30pm mass on November 3.

TROCAIRE

This organisati­on is looking for new volunteers who will be Parish Ambassador­s in the Armagh Diocese to help raise awareness of the challenges facing the world’s poorest communitie­s and the difference been made by support from Ireland. BURSARY AWARD SCHEME

Louth GAA, bursary scheme in memory of the late Charlie McAlester is administer­ed by the County Board. Bursaries will be awarded to three males and three females who are attending a full-time Higher Education course. Applicants must: Be attending a full-time course at a University or Third Level College; Be in their first year of study at one of the above; Not be in receipt of any other Bursary/Scholarshi­p or Sports Acad-

emy Scholarshi­ps; Be an active member of their local GAA club in Louth. The value of the bursary is €1,000. Each bursary will be paid in 2 instalment­s each year, November and February. Bursaries are for one year only and not renewable. Bursary applicatio­ns will be reviewed by a Bursary sub-committee. Responsibi­lity for awarding Bursaries rests with the sub-committee.
