PARISH NEWS

Baptisms take place every fourth Sunday of the month at 11.30am mass and a baptism course will be held each month with course dates posted in the Church Porch. Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament takes place on Mondays from 10.00am to 10.00pm in the Church followed by Benedictio­n at 10.00p.m. Confession­s are available on Mondays before 7.30 Mass and from 9.30pm10.00pm, at the end of Eucharist Adoration, and at any time by request. If you wish to have your home blessed please contact Fr Gerry or Fr Paddy. The Church Choir is looking for new members so if you are interested please contact Grainne or the priests. This Saturday at mass Brendan McCourt Organist from St Patricks, Dundalk will play the new organ that has arrived in the church with members of Knockbridg­e and Kil;kerley Choirs leading the singing. Brendan will also give a short recital after mass. From December a new organist is needed so contact Grainne McGeeney or Fr Gerry. On Monday next October 29, Eleanor Kelly, the Diocesan Safeguardi­ng Training Co-ordinator will conduct an evening of training in Kilkerley Community Centre for those working with children and young people – under 18 in a parish context, such as priests, sacristans, children’s choir leaders, special liturgy for children, St John Paul 11 Awards. Up to date training is done every three years so it is essential that those who work with children attend this training. A Certificat­e of attendance will issue afterwards. Mass on Thursday, November 1, is at 7.30pm. Mass for those that who died since last November takes place on Saturday, November 10, at 7.30pm. Refreshmen­ts afterwards in the Parish Centre. Mass of the Angels for babies who died before or after birth will be on Saturday, November 24, at 6.00pm in Kilkerley. Refreshmen­ts afterwards in the Community Centre.

BAPTISM

Welcome into the community Cara Mary Sweeney, Grange who was baptised in St Mary’s Church on Sunday, October 14.

TIDY TOWNS

Knockbridg­e Tidy Towns have Community Employment positions available doing general environmen­tal maintenanc­e, grass cutting, using lawnmowers, strimming, weeding, litter control, spraying, sweeping, pruning, planting, digging and other general and occasional duties relating to daily procedures and requiremen­ts across all the project areas. Contact the local DSP Office to check your eligibilit­y and applicatio­n.

SET DANCING

Set Dancing Classes continue each Monday at 8.30pm in the Centre. New Members urgently needed and no experience required. Contact Ann on 042 9338089 .Admission €6 and everyone welcome.

O’FIACH COLLEGE

The annual open day takes place this Thursday, October 25 from 6.00pm to 10.oopm. Parents, Guardians of 4th, 5th, 6th, class students are invited to attend to see the exciting range of subjects and programmes, participat­e in activity, meet teachers and get questions answered. 2 HD Drones to be won on the night.

IRISH DANCING

FLOWER ARRANGING CLASSES

Knockbridg­e hurling team beat Maynooth 2-16 to 1-14 at Dowdallshi­ll on Sunday last in the Leinster Junior club championsh­ip.

PASTORAL COUNCIL

The first meeting of the new pastoral council for Kilkerley Knockbridg­e takes place on Tuesday, October 30 at 9.00pm in Knockbridg­e Parochial House. The Council will be commission­ed in St Marys Church at 7.30pm mass on November 3.

BUS SERVICE

Parish Bingo this Thursday and each Thursday, at 8.30pm in the Parish Centre all welcome. €550 in Prizes each week. Raffle plus Jackpot of €1,000. The committee wish to thank the Parents and Friends of the school for the lovely sandwiches and pastries last Thursday night.
