Rampant Redeemer net six of the best

-

AN extraordinary result in the clash between the top two in division 2 with Redeemer now guaranteed at least a play-off for the title.

They can sit back and watch the other contenders sweat it out as any slip ups will guarantee they will become champions.

For Woodview their race is now run and in hugely disappointing circumstances, as they seemed to be too fired up for this crunch match, with the double dismissal of Conor Macken and Dean Hoey in the firsthalf effectively sealing their fate.

They turned around three nil down, after a disastrous ten minute spell in which Macken was sent to the sideline, followed by Hoey and in need of a minor miracle that never looked likely as Redeemer tacked on three more goals before the final whistle was blown prematurely.

Woichech Gladys put Redeemer in front after the opening quarter of hour. Kevin McCormack made it two nil before it all went terribly wrong for Woodview with the sending off of their two players. Gladyzs extended the lead to three nil. It wasn’t long in the second half when Kevin McCormack added a fourth, and substitute Mark Lee was on the field less than a minute when he scored a fifth for Redeemer.

Defender Paul Gartland completed the scoring, heading home the winners sixth goal.

REDEEMER: Kyle Murphy, Andy McDermott, Paul Gartland, Niall Kelly, Steven Smith, Liam McStravick, Martin Murphy, Ronan Mulholland, Dean McConnell Kevin McCormack, Woichech Gladyzs, Subs Jamie O’Hare, Conor Brennan, Mark Lee.
