The first meeting of the new pastoral council for Kilkerley Knockbridge Parishes takes place this evening Tuesday, October 30, at 9.00pm in Knockbridge Parochial House. The Council will be commissioned in St Marys Church, Knockbridge at 7.30pm mass this Saturday, November 3. Mass this Thursday, November 1, is at 10.00am. Mass on all souls day this Friday, November 2, is at 7.30pm. Mass for those that who died since last November takes place this Saturday, November 3, at 6.00pm. Refreshments afterwards in the Community Centre. Mass of the Angels for babies who died before or after birth will be on Saturday, November 24, at 6.00pm. Refreshments afterwards in the Community Centre. Fr Paddy is presently covering in Monasterboice Parish until January 2019, celebrating weekend and week day masses, Baptisms, Weddings, Funerals, First Friday calls and hospital visits. He will still do what he can in Kilkerley if he as any time to spare at all. The sick and housebound will be visited as usual this Friday. St John Paul Parish Awards which encourages and celebrates young peoples involvement in the community will be launched at 6.00pm mass on Saturday, November 10. Nominations and Motions meeting for 2019 , takes place on Thursday, November 8, at 8.00 p.m. and the Annual General Meeting will be held on Friday, November 23, at 8.00pm both in the Community Centre. In the U21 competition Preliminary Round this Friday, November 2, in Kilkerley at 8.00pm, Kilkerley Emmets/Naomh Malachi play St Patricks and the winners play at home to St Brides at 8.00pm on Tuesday, November 6. CANCER SOCIETY
The Irish Cancer Society is looking for volunteers in the Louth, Cavan, Monaghan and Meath areas to drive patients to and from their treatments in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda and the Dublin hospitals. Volunteer drivers will pick a patient up at the door of their home, drive them to the door of the hospital and then when finished treatment, pick them up and drop them home again. BURSARY AWARD SCHEME
Louth GAA, bursary scheme in memory of the late Charlie McAlester is administered by the County Board. Bursaries will be awarded to three males and three females who are attending a full-time Higher Education course. Applicants must: Be attending a full-time course at a University or Third Level College; Be in their first year of study at one of the above; Not be in receipt of any other Bursary/Scholarship or Sports Academy Scholarships; Be an active member of their local GAA club in Louth. The value of the bursary is €1,000. Each bursary will be paid in 2 instalments each year, November and February. Bursaries are for one year only and not renewable. Bursary applications will be reviewed by a Bursary sub-committee. Responsibility for awarding Bursaries rests with the sub-committee.
