DUNDALK FC’S LIAM CELEBRATES HIS 40TH

-

ON Saturday night I made my way up to the Lilywhite Lounge where a 40th birthday party was being held for Liam Burns from Marian Park and there to make sure he had a great night was his wife Aoife, kids Freddie and Alfie, dad John, brother Sean and sister Rosemary and a huge collection of family and friends.

Liam who is the Community Officer with Dundalk FC and coach to the U17s concluded his playing career in 2012 after three successful years with the club.

I wasn’t too long in the door when I met up with Aisling and Martin Connolly from Mill Road who were with David Minto from Medebawn and they wanted to wish Liam all the best on his big night and were there to make sure he made the best of it.

Next I got talking to neighbours Ciaran and Amy McGeown from Marian Park who were in form for a night of celebrations with Liam and Aoife.

Just arrived in the door was Ronnie Carroll from Innishfree who wanted to wish Liam all the best and told me that all Liam’s relations over from London and up from Belfast were all staying with him.

Meanwhile up at the bar I met up with family friend John Moloney from O’Hare’s Mill and Tie Wrap Gangster Ciaran McIntyre from Beechmount Drive who said they were delighted to be there and were sure it was going to be an epic celebration.

Also up near the bar were neighbours Larry and Mary McCarthy who said that Liam and Aoife are a grand couple with two lovely children and they were delighted to be there to celebrate Liam’s 40th.

Heading for an adjacent table I got a word with Ohran, Yvonne Natasha and Naoise Waring from Glenwood who were with Jackie Delaney from Dungarvan who is now living in Castlebellingham and when I asked the Waring’s if they knew Liam well, replied ‘Know him, we shouted at him often enough!’

Making my way over to another table I caught up with Liam’s dad John Byrne from Belfast who was having a laugh with cousin Paul Monan from London, nephew Patrick Downey from Belfast, brother-in-law Patrick Downey Snr. also from Belfast who said he taught Liam all he knows about football!

They were enjoying the company of aunt Phyllis Monan from London, big sister Sharon Monan from London, cousin James Newe also from London and younger brother Sean Burns from Belfast who assured me it was going to be an entire weekend of celebrations when the family all got together.

Finally, before I departed I caught up with another Tie Wrap Gangster David Caldwell from Cedarwood Park who wanted to wish Liam all the best on his big night and assured me it was going to be a mad one!
