Section of N53 shut until December 7th

-

A section of the N53 will now be closed until December 7th, after Louth County Council confirmed an extension to the temporary closure.

In a statement Louth County Council gave notice of its ‘intention to extend the duration of the advertised road closure to Friday 7th December 2018 to facilitate major road reconstruction works.’

The closure will affect the N53 from Hackballscross to Rassan. The diversion route for west bound traffic (Dundalk to Castleblaney) is as follows: From Hackballscross ( junction of N53 with LP-31250) travel southeast along the N53 to junction 17 on the M1 Motorway. Enter the M1 Motorway and travel south, exiting at Junction 16, enter the N52 (Dundalk to Ardee Road) and continue into Ardee. Turn right off the Dundalk Road roundabout for the N2 (Derry Road) and continue to Castleblaney, via Carrickmacross.

For traffic travelling in an eastbound direction, the above route in reverse will apply.

A commitment has been given to provide local access along the route, where this is practical.
