LILYWHITE LOUNGE THE VENUE FOR A SPECIAL NIGHT

-

ON Friday night I headed for the Lilywhite Lounge where a special 50th birthday party was being held for Garrett Doyle from Golden Ridge Point Road and there to make sure he had a fantastic night was wife Jackie, kids Rachel and Jade and a huge collection of family friends and workmates.

Garrett who works in the Maria Goretti Children’s Respite Centre in Lordship is a huge Dundalk FC fan and is one of the synonymous Tie-Wrap Gang. He wanted to thank everyone for going to the party and was really looking forward to a mad night.

I then headed for a table where I got talking to fellow workmates Nuala Barry from Glenmore, Rosemary Martin from Kilcurry, Gillian Lynch from Carrickmacross, Laura Ballantine from Greenore, Maurice McElroy from Ashbrook and Jolita Bivainite from Cederwood Park who tried to tell me it was going to be a quiet, refined celebration, but I really couldn’t believe them to be honest.

Making my way over to another table I got talking to Garrett’s wife Jackie who was having a right laugh with Deirdre Minto from Garrybawn and Aisling Connolly from Mill Road whom I seem to be stalking at the moment and they were with husbands David and Martin who warned me away, again!

Meanwhile up near the bar I got a word with last week’s birthday boy Liam Burns who was having a time of it with Vanessa and Wayne McCrink from Greenacres, Aidan McBride from Knockbridge and Frank Birmingham from Cluan Enda who told me they have known Garrett from the club and certainly weren’t going to miss this mega bash.

I then headed for the Tie-Wrap Gangsters table where I met up with David Caldwell, Paul Brown, Donal and Cathal Sweeney and Gerry Curtis who all wanted to wish Garrett a very happy birthday and they were there to make sure he made the very, very best of it.

Not too long later I got talking to Garrett’s big sister Bernie Rice from Ashdale Park who was with husband Donnagh, Conor and Evelyn Rice from Cavan Town, Aoife and Paul McComish from Belfry Avenue and grandson Cillian Rice who were with Nora González De Mesa and Veronica Villagre both from Espania who were up for making the best of the party on the night.

Next I headed over for a word with Mary Toner from Bellurgan and Frances McArdle from Ravensdale who wanted to wish Garrett a very happy 50th and were up for making the best of his party.

The girls were enjoying the company of Jacob McCabe from Cavan, Garrett’s daughters Jade and Rachel with boyfriend Ronan O’Reilly from Riverside Drive, father and mother-in-law Peadar and Kitty Finnegan Seatown, Margaret McCann from O’Hanlon Park and Catherine Fergus from Cluan Enda who were all in great form and wanted to wish Garrett all the best on his big night.
