A total of 11 St Peter’s athletes made the two and half hour journey. The underfoot conditions were quite good for running with a few challenging places but the weather wasn’t ideal as it changed from sunshine to heavy rain and even hailstones.

The ever improving Niamh Brady was once again the shining light for the St Peters club, every race Niamh just seems to get stronger, this week she was moved up an age to under 15 but that didn’t deter this in form athletes as she managed to win an individual medal coming home in ninth place but also a significant factor was that she

Isabel Fitzpatrick managed to finish the race which was an achievement in itself as she sustained a knee injury at the halfway point, all three girls like Niamh Brady can look forward to competing in the National Cross-Country Championships in Navan on the 15th December.

Race 7 Fridays Rosaleen won in 29.59 for owner/trainer Paul Whyte (Lifford)

Race 8 Fridays Adele won in 29.43 for owner/trainer Paul Whyte (Lifford) IT was a clash of the titans in last week’s Dundalk and District Dart League as top-of-the-table Avenue Celtic travelled to Blackrock to take on the might of the defending champions Uncle Toms Cabin.

The holders showed they are still the team to beat as they raced into a 4-0 lead with great performances from Pat Ward, John Lawlor and John Donnelly.

The man who put them all in the shade, however, was Owen Caffrey who showed his class with a 14 and a pair of 15-leg darts.

Although the match was lost, the Avenue team plugged away and got their reward with victories for Raymie Carroll and Austin Thompson in the bottom two matches.

At the other end of the division, the Malthouse and Uncle Toms could not be seperated and remain locked together at the bottom of the table after an entertaining 3-3 draw.

In Division 1 Punters Panthers stayed two points clear of the field but were made to work very hard to overcome McManus Maniacs 4-2.

When Sean Fisher and Paddy Shields both won to put the home side 2-1 in front it looked like the leaders were in trouble, but a fightback launched by Brian McGuirk and Michael Noone got them over the line.

Commercial Classics are now in sole possession of second place following a dominant 6-0 win over Punters Pumas, with John McCartan particularly impressive. In the other match, Harrys Bar lost ground on the leaders when they were held to a 3-3 draw by the Bodhran Blues.

In Division 2 there was a surprisingly easy 6-0 win for Bodhran Eagles over Castle Bar Knights, with Brian Ward in outstanding form for the victors.

Courtneys climbed into second place in this division after two wins in three days. Following a 5-1 victory over Stags Blue in a deferred fixture played on Tuesday night, they were given a real battle by the Clans and had Tony Reynolds to thank for getting them across the finishing line.

Bodhran Hawks are up to third after edging Commercial Celtic 4-2, with Kieran McCrave their star performer, while Callans picked up their first win of the season by beating Stags Blue 4-2, with Glen Hanratty shining for the Blayney Road outfit.

The league takes a break for the next two weeks, but the divisional cups begin on Thursday.
