SOSAD say thank you to Stephen Kenny
TIMING is everything in life.
Last Thursday morning SOSAD invited Stephen Kenny to their offices in Seatown to make a presentation to the Dundalk manager for his success with the Lilywhites.
Since arriving in Dundalk six years ago, Stephen Kenny has been a patron of SOSAD and publicly supported the suicide prevention and awareness charity.
Making a presentation of a portrait of the man himself, painted by local artist, Jessie Brenton from Bachelor’s Walk, Gerry Duffy outlined that the Dundalk manager had being by their side since he first arrived in Dundalk.
He wanted to make the presentation to the manager now, as he might be in line for a new job. How true that prediction would turn out to be in the following days.
Gerry also presented Stephen Kenny with a 2019 calendar of photos taken along the Navvy Bank by local photographer Darren Rafferty which featured images of the SOSAD duck derby which the Dundalk manager had helped start each year.
Gerry Duffy outlined that SOSAD relied totally on local support and contributions to help them with their valuable work, but added that he hoped that this might change and that he had recently met with Minister for Finance, Pascal Donohoe in that regard.
Responding Stephen Kenny said he was happy that his profile helped shine a light on the remarkable work of SOSAD and praised the volunteers for their hard and vital work in tackling one of the most pressing and serious issues facing society.
