Why you should service your gas boiler ...

-

CARBON Monoxide, also referred to as CO, is a colourless, odourless, tasteless, poisonous gas that is produced by the incomplete combustion of organic fossil fuels such as oil gas and coal.

Dangerous levels of CO can accumulate when the fuel is not burning properly as a result of poor ventilation, blocked chimney or flue or damaged appliances.

Because it has no smell, taste or colour it is sometimes called the silent killer.

Prevention is always better than cure: by having your gas boiler and gas appliances correctly installed in good ventilated areas, properly repaired and serviced annually by Registered Gas Installers (RGI) the risks of been exposed to CO poisoning are reduced.

Stop using appliances immediately if you suspect they might be faulty.

Why should I service my gas Boiler

As with all heating appliances, your gas boiler needs to be serviced once a year, as recommended by the manufacturers, to ensure that it is operating efficiently and safely. An efficient boiler is more environmentally friendly leading to lower gas consumption, therfore lowering your bills.

The safety aspect is even more critical as a regularly serviced boiler will operate safely i.e. the gas will burn correctly, reducing the risk of emissions of poisonous Carbon Monoxide and / or production of soot.

Who should service my gas Boiler

It is illegal for anybody other than a Registered Gas Installer to service your boiler.

Your gas boiler should only be serviced by a Registered Gas Installer (RGI) as he/she will have the required competency and experience to deal with the servicing, repair and setup of gas appliances. The RGI will also check if the boiler is correctly installed and operating in a suitable environment.

Contact any one of the registered gas installers on this page to get your boiler serviced.
