Christmas Market for Alzheimer Day Care Centre

-

Christmas, the special time of year which reaches deep into the human soul. A time for caring and showing appreciation for those we hold dear. For Families who have the unwanted guest of Dementia in their lives, Christmas can be a challenging and often lonely time.

The Birches Alzheimer Day Care Centre in Dundalk and Rathabbey, Grange, Carlingford, are expert in reaching out to those who experience the winds of change blow in their lives. Since it’s foundation in the year 2000, The Birches has been a welcome crutch for many families. A fountain of knowledge from which they may draw when they need an understanding of the complex condition which is dementia.

As December arrives, Christmas bells toll all over the Cooley Peninsula. The distant sound embraces the true meaning of Christ- mas and the magic that it brings. It is not all about turkey and tinsel. On Sunday next, December 2, the doors of Cooley Parochial hall will open to welcome all to the annual Cooley Charity Christmas Market.

The market is a coming together of an entire community with input from many local business’s and organisations. A raffle will take place on the day of the market. Ireland’s top entertainer Mike Denver has donated two tickets to his concert in Armagh. To complete this prize, The Armagh City Hotel have kindly donated a night’s accommodation in their hotel for the lucky winner. There will be many other prizes, vouchers and hampers.

The organisers of the market wish to express their thanks to all who have donated items, sponsored goods and provided prizes for the raffle. The groundswell of support received reflects the esteem in which the Birches is held in North Louth.

Cooley Hall will be open from 2 pm on Saturday December 1 to accept donations. For information or to donate an item to the market, please contact Anne 086 3938289.
