ANNUAL GET-TOGETHER IN CLANS CLUBROOMS

MY last port of call on Saturday night was to the Clans clubrooms where St. Nicholas Avenue Residents Association were hosting a party night and by the time I got there the pace was packed with party revellers.

I was only in the door when I met up with my old friends Maurice and Paula Harrison from Quality Street who were with neighbours Mary and Gerry Hoey who tried to tell me it as going to be a quiet night, as if!

They were having a time of it with Carol McKevitt from Ashbrook who wanted to a big shout out for ex ‘ Avenue residents Noreen Donnelly and Lyndon Woods both in Sligo and to tell them they were missing a mad night. Carol was there with Michelle Newell, Malachy Fay and Geraldine O’Neill all from the ‘ Avenue who said it was going to be a totally insane night.

At an adjacent table I then got talking to Carol Halpin and Helen McEneaney form Nicholas Avenue who assured me it was going to be a fantastic evening with Freda Browne from Lis Na Dara and wife of the chairperson Kate McEneaney who wanted to tell Mickey not to work too hard.

I headed for the next table where I got talking to Mickey’s sister Breda Mooney, brothers Paddy and Eamonn who was with his daughter Kate from Ashbrook who couldn’t wait for the real fun to get going and assured me it was going to be an excellent night.

Heading for another table I then got a word with Aoife Thompson, Geraldine Smyth, Yvonne Smith, Miriam and Louise Thompson who were with Justine Bellew from Bay Estate who assured me it was going to be a totally great night.

After this I headed over for a chat with Catherine and David Crosby, Lorraine and Deborah Barry all from the’ Avenue, Amanda Drum from Bay Estate, Patricia Dillon from Afton Drive and Lorraine Browne from Kilcurry who assured me she was only there for the goujons and wine!

I must be following the Duffys this weekend, last night it was Gerry and Eddie, tonight it was Johnny and Mickey who were with respective wives Eileen and Sally. Johnny wanted to welcome Mickey and Sally to d ‘Avenya as they have only recently moved there. They were enjoying the night with Jenny Casey, Willie and Briege Dixon who said it was going to be a lovely night with lovely food and dancing too.

I then headed for the FFF table were I got a word with Paddy and Mary Murtagh from Marian Park and Kieran and Anne Carroll who told me that the girls were born and bred on the Avenue and were delighted to be there.

One lady who was ready to party the night away was Tracey McCormack from the ’Avenue, Michelle Moran and Andrew Hill from Gilford who were ready for a mad night for sure. At the next table I got talking to Pat Boland from the ‘Avenue who was with son Skinny and partner Ciara McCormack and they were celebrating with the recently engaged Stephen Hoey and Niamh Quigley who assured me that once the residents of Nicholas Avenue get together, it was guaranteed to be an epic night.
