Terrifying burglary attempts at home of ill child

ZOE’S FAMILY TERRIFIED AFTER TWO ATTEMPTS TO BREAK IN TO THEIR HOME

- By OLIVIA RYAN

SHOCKING attempts to break in to little Zoe Murphy’s home have left her family ‘ terrified’.

A public fundraising appeal has been running for the two-year-old, who needs life changing surgery in the US.

But mum Lynda Bannon told the Argus how she was at home alone with Zoe on Friday morning last, when she heard a loud noise at the back of their house.

‘I had Zoe in her special high chair in the kitchen. I looked out, and saw two guys at the patio door. I was absolutely terrified, I just grabbed Zoe and ran out into the front garden.’

SHOCKING attempts to break in to little Zoe Murphy’s home have left her family ‘ terrified’.

A public fundraising appeal has been running for the two year old, who needs life changing surgery in the US.

Lynda added that it had happened on the same morning, and at the same time as a much publicised bucket collection for Zoe in town.

‘It just really made me think that it wasn’t a coincidence. perhaps they thought there would be no one at home.’

‘Now I’m just in fear of it happening again if we have to leave the house. I just can’t understand anyone who would do this.’

She added it had been the second time their Avenue Road home had been targetted in ten days.

‘Last week, we had all been at home, and noticed these guys outside again. But Eamon opened the door to them, and they muttered something about trying to get out of the street.’

She said she is not clear if it was the same two individuals on both occasions, but had reported it to gardai on Friday last with descriptions of the two males.

‘We have to make it clear that we have absolutely no access to any of the money being raised for Zoe, and we definitely do not keep any money in our home, where our children live.’

She explained that at the very beginning of their campaign to raise funds for Zoe’s operation, they had handed over any responsibility for the money donated to two different committees.

‘So we will not have access to it at any point. It will only be paid over when her operation is being carried out in the States.’

Lynda added that they were struggling to understand how anyone could target the family.

‘We understand that with all the good coming for Zoe we must take some bad, and we must assume that it’s no coincidence .’

‘ The people of Dundalk have been a pillar of strength to us throughout everything. We really don’t want the actions of these people to change that in any way.’

‘We want to thank everyone for their ongoing support for Zoe and our family.’
