RCNE seek helpline volunteers
THE Rape Crisis North East (RCNE) network have launched a recruitment campaign for volunteers for their vital helpline service
Helpline training opportunities are currently being made available through the RCNE’S Cherrywood Counselling centre.
A spokeswoman told the Argus: ‘Rape Crisis North East is offering the opportunity to attend a Helpline Training Programme which will commence on Wednesday 6th February 2019 and finish on Friday 14th March 2019.’
‘ The training is free and in return, we will ask you to commit to four hours of your time per week to provide telephone counselling support to survivors of rape and sexual violence.’
The training programme will be run at the Cherrywood Counselling Centre, Great Northern Distillery Offices on the Carrick Road.
It will consist of twelve day workshops taking place over six weeks ( Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9.30am to 4.00pm).
‘ The RCNE Helpline Service is a ‘ lifeline’ for many victims of rape and sexual abuse who need to talk to someone who cares,’ she explained.
‘All our telephone volunteers are trained to listen, support and offer information and counselling support to callers who use the line.
