S Perth makes keeper move

-

signed as replacement for the departed Gabriel Sava, who put pen to paper on a deal with First Division Bray Wanderers at the weekend.

The deal for the Monaghan native is understood to have been concluded recently but an announcement as been delayed as he cannot officially sign until the New Year.

As first revealed by The Argus in early October, Dundalk FC have also stepped up their efforts for winger Daniel Kelly, who was on the books of Bohemians for the second half of last season. The 22-year-old played in a trial match with troubled Championship side Bolton Wanderers last week but it is understood he favours a move to the champions having met with Perth at the weekend.

Kelly’s arrival as well as the possible addition of Limerick’s Will Fitzgerald could mean a departure from Oriel with Dylan Connolly being linked with an exit, possibly on loan. Waterford FC are one of two clubs understood to be keen on the winger who hasn’t really hit the heights expected as yet since his arrival from Bray Wanderers in July 2017.

Meanwhile, four Dundalk representatives have been shortlisted for the SSE Airtricity/Soccer Writers’ Association of Ireland Personality of the Year award – Chris Shields, Pat Hoban, Michael Duffy and Stephen Kenny. Up against them for the coveted honour, which will be presented on January 11th, are Bohemians boss Keith Long and UCD manager Collie O’Neill.

Gary Rogers has also been nominated for Goalkeeper of the Year alongside Bohemians’ Shane Supple and Mark McNulty of Cork City.
