John and Fintan to stand for Fianna Fail
Fianna Fáil have selected their candidates for the local elections in the Ardee local electoral area. Fintan Malone from Ardee and John Sheridan from Dromiskin were chosen at a meeting in Ardee on Tuesday night.
Fintan Malone is a former town councillor while John Sheridan is a first time candidate for the party. Outgoing councillor Liam Reilly is due to run in the Dundalk South electoral area.
John Sheridan said: “I’m honoured to be selected. I look forward to meeting constituents right up to polling day. Some of the issues Fianna Fáil will be campaiging on are the Ardee Northern Bypass, the restoration of Ardee Castle and the delivery of the Dunleer local area plan. Those of us in Ardee every day know just how congested the town can be, it’s so important that construction of the northern bypass proceeds, but there must be some accommodation of local residents concerns about access are resolved.” Other topics raised were the housing shortage across the area, the council council waiting list for housing and provision of broadband in rural areas.
Local TD Declan Breathnach said: “Best wishes to colleagues Fintan and John in their selection to represent Fianna Fail in the Ardee electoral area in next May’s local elections. I look forward to working to help secure two seats with John and Fintan” The meeting was chaired by former TD and Minister Séamus Kirk, who wished both candidates well.
