€7.5m funding for local roads

THERE was a broad welcome to the €7.5 million in funding allocated to assist the repair of regional and local roads in Louth.

These include a €30,000 upgrade on the Avenue Road to improve the pedestrian route to commercial areas, €35,000 to upgrade the Bellurgan Straight from the junction of Deer Park Road to the service station opposite Bel- lurgan Football Club and €15,000 each to help with speeding vehicles in Annagassan, Kilsaran and Knockbridge.

Cllr. John McGahon welcomed the funding: ‘Recent extreme weather events have had a major impact on the regional and local road network and this funding will see essential maintenance and improvements carried out.
