Fullhouse for local director’s film
AISLINN CLARKE HOME FOR SCREENING OF ‘THE DEVIL’S DOORWAY’
The red carpet was out figuratively if not literally for Dundalk native Aislinn Clark when she attended the screening of her debut feature film ‘ The Devil’s Doorway’ in An Táin Arts Centre recently.
Having grown up in Fatima before moving to Forkhill while in her teens, Aislinn was delighted to meet up with family and friends as well as local movie buffs.
The hometown screening was sold out and audiences got the chance to ask Aislinn questions about the film after viewing the film.
A past pupil of Scoil Chriost Ri (now Gaelscoil Dun Dealgan) and Colaiste Ris, Aislinn studied film making at Queens University Belfast and the New York Film Academy. She has worked in theatre and television and now lectures in film making and screen writing at the Seamus Heaney Centre, QUB.
Having created history as being the first Irish woman to write and direct a horror movie, Aislinn was more than happy to take questions from the audience at the end of the screening.
She spoke of how she sold her vision for ‘ The Devil’s Doorway’ to producer Martin Brennan as she felt it was important that the film reflect the real horror of the Madgelene laundries.
Those who were unable to make last week’s screening can view the film on Netflix, iTunes or the Sky Store.
