THE sin-bin is definitely a more appropriate sanction for the cynical play that the black card was introduced to counteract a few years ago. Too many players were understandably prepared to take one for the team under the old system, but they’ll have to think twice now as playing 10 minutes with 14 men or less can be a real game-changer. Louth will have to get to grips with the new regime sooner rather than later as they had three more sin bins on Saturday with Conor Early, Andy McDonnell and Bevan Duffy penalised. The latter’s was very harsh, but that’s irrelevant when you’re rooted to the bench for 10 minutes and your teammates are down to 14.
