Local motions to be discussed at agm

-

BAY FC have submitted a motion calling for all final league games in a division to be played on the same day and at the same time to ensure trophies are ‘won on the pitch’ ahead of the North East Football League agm, which takes place tonight (Tuesday) at 8pm in the Ardboyne Hotel, Navan. They suggest that final games be run off over a five-week period, beginning with those in Division 4 and concluding with the final round of games in the top flight.

Meanwhile, Muirhevnamor are clearly concerned about the distances they have to travel to disciplinary hearings as they are proposing that these hearings may be held via Skype.

Premier Division champions Boyne Harps have put forward a number of interesting motions.

The Drogheda club seem particularly anxious to have a more structured system of fixtures, proposing that a complete fixture list for the Premier Division should be scheduled and published before the season begins. They say this would mean all teams would complete their seasons on the same weekend and ‘hopefully help to keep both the top and the bottom of the division fair and exciting for everyone involved’.

Separate motions from Boyne Harps deal with the issue of postponements, requested weekends off and ‘teams entering competitions outside the league’s jurisdiction’, in each case insisting that scheduled league fixtures be played in mid-week of the following week to ensure the fixture plan is adhered to. They also want to see designated dates scheduled and published for every round of all cup competitions.

One motion that might attract a fierce debate is Harps’ suggestion that clubs within a 10-mile radius of a new club wishing to join the league should be notified and have a say in whether they are admitted. This, they say, is to prevent ‘pop-up clubs’ who might only last one season and to address the issue of limited pitches and training facilities.

The same club are also proposing that teams shouldn’t be permitted to have a say or vote in matters affecting divisions other than the one they are in.

The last three the motions are proposed by the NEFL Committee and are to ‘Regionalise all Reserve divisions’, Regionalise A and B Reserve divisions’ and ‘Regionalise Divisions 3 and 4’.
