Gers looking good

-

THE Geraldines continued their 100 per cent start to the league campaign with victory against Clan na Gael on Sunday afternoon

Within 30 seconds of the start Billy Smith had the Clans off the mark but Jim McEneaney levelled things up with a free and then in the sixth minute Dara Hamill palmed the ball into the net.

The Clans fired over two quick points from Mark McGeown and Smith to make it a one-point game with 10 minutes gone. The Gers then scored five unanswered points, the first coming from Fearghal McDonald, three from Jim McEneaney and one from Gareth Neacy to extend the lead to six on 25 minutes. The Clans rallied with three points from Smith which cut the deficit to 1-6 to 0-6 at the break.

Gers really grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck in the second half after a point from captain Jim McEneaney got them going. McDonald got his second point of the day and another McEneaney free stretched their lead back to six. Then some great football from the Gers ended up in Feidlim Joyce’s hand and he finished it into the net.

A point and a superbly finished goal from McEneaney put 13 points between the teams before the Clans registered their first score of the second half on 42 minutes. Glen Trainor netted the fourth and final goal before the final whistle.
