OSKARS NIGHT

This Easter Saturday night April 20, there is only one place to be and that is at Kilkerley Emmets big Oskars Night takes place in Carrickdal­e Hotel with Darragh Maloney of RTE as M C. Adm €25 and 8.00pm start. It wouldn’t succeed either, without the Actors and Actresses who have given up so much of their time over the last 6 weeks to rehearsing their Plays, along with getting sponsorshi­p and ticket selling so a huge thanks to them. PARISH NEWS

Cermonies for Holy Week and Easter. Holy Thursday Celebratio­n of Washing of the Feet and Last Supper in Kilkerley at 7.30pm. Good Friday the Passion of the Lord in each parish at 3.00pm, Stations of the Cross in Knockbridg­e at 7.30pm. Holy Saturday Vigil Mass in Knockbridg­e at 9.00pm. Masses as usual in each Parish on Easter Sunday. Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament takes place each Friday from 6.30p.m.-7.30p.m. Please pray for Alice Lynch, Rathmore , Christophe­r Griffin, Mullaboy, Maura Quigley, Carrickalu­st, Christina McKenna, Annaghs, Sally Morris, Castleblay­ney, Kathleen Drumgoole, Reaghstown who died recently. Baptisms take place every second Sunday of the month at 10.00am mass. Confession will take place after 6.00p.m Mass on Saturdays and before Mass on First Fridays. Best wishes to parishione­rs who are hospitalis­ed or unwell at home presently. Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament takes place in the Church each Friday evening from 6.00pm to 7.00pm. New members are needed for the Parish Finance Committee.

DANCING

Dancing in the Community Centre this Sunday, April 21, with music by Still Water. Sean Wilson and Tony Mac play on April 28, White Lightening on May 5, Brian McDermott on May 12, J and S Sound on May 19, Blue Magic on May 26. Dancing from 9.00pm to midnight.

EMMETS GFC

In the main league on Friday last away to St Josephs it ended in defeat 3-8 to 1-9.. Scorers: Tadhg McEneaney 1-3, Shane Lennon 0-4, Cathal Bellew and Killian Kampes 0-1 each. This Friday, April 19, its a home tie against Glyde at 8.00pm and on Wednesday of next week its away to Finbarrs at 7.00pm. The junior team play at tonight, Tuesday, April 16 at 8.00pm against St Fechins. The Ladies team lost to St Fechins on Friday last and play away at home to O’Raghaillai­ghs Plunkets this Friday, April 19, at 7.00pm and in Division 3, play away to St Marys on Tuesday, April 23 at 7.00pm. The U16 girls won away to St Brides and this Wednesday are at home to Glen Emmets at 6.30pm. The U12 team won 1-9 to 2-1 at home to St Josephs and this Thursday are away to Glyde Westerns at 7.00pm, and on Thursday, April 25, are at home to St Mochtas at 7.00pm. The U14 girls lost to St Fechins and are away to Hunterstow­n on Monday next at 7.00pm. The U12 Kilkerley/ NaomhMalac­hi boys play away to St Josephs at 7.00pm on Friday, April 19 and on Monday, April 22, at home at 6.30pm to Mattock Hunterstow­n.. They beat Dundalk Gaels 2-6 to 1-6 with a fine display of attacking football coming from by both teams and it took a superb effort in the second half to emerge winners. Well done to all. Kilkerley Naomh Malachi U16 boys lost to Sean O’Mahoneys Piarsaighs Dowdallshi­ll 1-16 to 1-6. Team: Conal Brady, Aaron Gogarty, Niall Quigley, Ronan Deery, Marty Campbell, Kyle McFadden, Morgan Quigley, Liam Cawley, Rory Kirk 0-2, Pauraic McGee, Dean Murtagh, Diarmuid McEneaney, Conall Quinn, Aidan Corrigan 1-3, Dara Conlon 0-1, Joe Lennon. The minor boys play on Monday, April 29, away to St Fechins at 6.30pm. Sympathy to the wife and family of former player Joe McDonnell, St Margarets, Finglas, formerly Tankardsro­ck, who was laid to rest in Glasnevin Cemetery on Thursday last. Joe was a sub on the 1946 Junior Championsh­ip winning team and also lined out with the county minors that year.

JIVE CLASSES

Beginners Jive classes take place in Kilkerley Community Centre each Tuesday evening at 7.30 pm and also each Tuesday evening Pilates takes place in the Centre at 6.30pm. Contact 0851048491 for details.

Bowls continue in the Community Centre from 7.45pm each Wednesday night. New members welcome.

BADMINTON

Badminton for adults in the Community Centre on Monday nights from 8.00pm to 10.00pm. All over 18 welcome.

SCHOLARSHI­PS

An Coiste Chontae are sponsoring a limited number of scholarshi­ps, with the value of €700 for each full-scholarshi­p and €350 for each half-scholarshi­p. Scholarshi­ps for Gaelteacht for under 14/16 and over 16 years (but must still be in second level education) are now available.

Applicatio­n forms must be received by Saturday, April 27, and Assessment of candidates will be on Saturday, May 11, in Darver commencing 9:30 a.m. Cheques presentati­on Wednesday, May 15, at 7.30 p.m in Darver.
