Lourdes volunteers group enjoy Abba night
EASILY one of the biggest nights of the weekend had to be the Irish Association of Lourdes Volunteers Abba Night which took place in Toales on Saturday night.
I was only in the door when I caught up with Beverly and Pat Carolan from Knockbridge who told me it was going to be a wonderful night and even though the band hadn’t started yet, the ladies were in great form and enjoying the proceedings.
Next, I had the pleasure of talking to Sauna McEneaney from O’Hanlon Park who told me she was there with the rest of her colleagues from Dealgan House Nursing Home.
Heading for the bar I caught up with Helen Quigley from Allardstown, Donna Savage from Castle Heights, Triona Boyle from Inniskeen and Anna Lenaria from Newtownbalregan who assured me it was going to be a mad night for certain.
Meanwhile at an adjacent table I then got talking to Alison Carolan from Oaklawns, Linda Coleman from Kilkerley, Nicole Quigley from Belfry Drive, Catriona Pickering from Greenacres, Patricia McKeown from Haggardstown and Ursula Kieran from Oliver Plunkett Park who were ready to party and were on for some serious singing of the Abba hits.
Next, I got talking to Shauna, Rachel and Louise Winters from Riverwell Close who were there to support the cause and have a mad one with all the rest of the ladies there.
Heading for another table I met up with Claudine Crawley from Greengates, her mum Noelle Crawley from Willow Grove and Nicola Breen-Briscoe from Dunleer who were in the company of Tallanstown’s Tina Turner and her backing singer Jackie Brennan who were getting ready to upstage the Abba girls.
They were also in the company of Mary Farrell from Tallanstown, Marie Kindlon from Louth Village the other Marie Kindlon from Monasterboice and Geraldine McCoy from Louth Village who were all in party mode and having a fantastic night together.
Meanwhile over the other side of the venue I got a word with Wally McElroy from Hackballscross and Kayleigh Shortall from Ashling Crescent who couldn’t wait for the music to get going and said it Was for such a worthy cause.
Also in their company were Bernadette Conroy from The Meadows who was with Teresa Ellis from O’Hanlon Park and Lisa Heffernan from Hackballscross who were having a great laugh together on the night.
Beside them I met ‘Handsome family’ member Mary Morgan from Point Road who was with Linda Casey a fully paid up members of the FFF from the Holy Lands who said they were just about ready for the band and were going to sing the night away.
After this I met up with Rachel Scott from Bay Estate, Aoife Curley from Avondale Park and Valerie Casey from Marian Park who were out for the night and was going to have a mad one.
Finally, before I departed, I caught up with Ashu Philip from Carlinn Hall, Neecole Colgan from Cavan and Leona McDonnell from Killean who were having a fantastic night together and said it was only going to get better.
