Celebrate International Credit Union Day on Thursday 17th October
DUNDALK Credit Union together with Credit Unions throughout Ireland and around the world will join in celebrating the spirit of the global Credit Union movement on Thursday 17th October.
The day is recognised to reflect upon the important role Credit Unions play in meeting the financial and social needs of people within our community on a local and global level. The theme this year is “Local Service.
Global Reach.” which is fitting considering the Credit Union cooperative spirit is embraced by more than 260 million members, served by 75,000 credit unions in 109 countries worldwide.
To mark this day, Dundalk Credit Union are delighted to invite you to celebrate our cooperate history and the positive impact that Dundalk Credit Union and indeed all Credit Unions, make in the lives of people within our communities. There will be tea, coffee and refreshments from 11am until 1pm and Pat O’Shaughnessy will pop in for a chat with the LMFM Road Runner.
Billy Doyle, CEO of Dundalk Credit Union, Market Street, speaking ahead of International Credit Union Day said, “International Credit Union Day is a global celebration of the ethos and roots upon which the Credit Union movement is founded. Credit Unions throughout the world, play an important role in the development of our economies and the communities we serve, helping people improve their quality of life through access to affordable financial services and supporting community groups and initiatives on a local level. The importance of people and community remains at the heart of everything we do, here at Dundalk Credit Union.”
Billy added that “We are very happy to report that Dundalk Credit Union has had a strong financial performance in 2019 and we’ve welcomed almost 2000 new members to date this year. Our loan applications and loan volumes have grown significantly and we have said yes to 90% of all loan applications. We invite everyone to join us to celebrate International Credit Union Day and the wonderful opportunities Credit Union membership offers the people of Ireland.”
If you have not yet joined your local Credit Union or have not connected with them in some time, why not do so now and become an active part of the Credit Union movement.
