Beautiful Blackrock awards ceremony

-

In the glow still of becoming the country’s Tidiest Small Town, the village’s Tidy Towns Committee will announce their own local winners in the Beautiful Blackrock Awards competition.

The competition has been run by the committee for some time and has played no small part in the village’s rise to the top in the national event.

This year’s awards ceremony is on Tuesday October 22, and the venue will be the community centre.

This is a change with the Clermont Arms where the awards have been held in the last numbers of years, undergoing renovation, and having previously been hosted in other venues, notably the Fairways Hotel.

The community centre is regarded as a very suitable venue, especially after the extensive refurbishment work carried out to the interior and exterior of the building.

Again as in past years the judging panel will acknowledge the special voluntary contribution of one individual in the tidy town effort in the community.

Everyone is welcome to attend and join in the celebration of Blackrock’s achievements.

The Tidy Towns committee held its agm last week and the following officers and committee were elected:

Chairperson, John Horan; vice-chairman, Joe Bailey; secretary, Ann Campbell; treasurer, Brian McElroy; pro, Michael O’Sullivan.

Committee, Eileen Carter, Ann Fennelly, Gerry Hughes , Suzanne Linanne, Marie McCallion, John McLoughlin, Mary Murtagh and Mary Rowley.
